National Lab's (LBNL) Building Technology Urban Systems Division
has an opening for a Communications & Outreach Operations Analyst
to join the team.IMPEL is a program based at Lawrence Berkeley
National Laboratory and funded by the U.S. Department of Energy's
Building Technologies Office. IMPEL provides early-stage building
technology innovators with pitch coaching and business plan
training, and pipeline access to incubators and accelerators. Learn

inventors and entrepreneurs with these curated climate technologies
and critical resources like state-of-the-art test beds, prototyping
facilities, and scientific resources for technology advancement.
The program provides entrepreneurship training and access to early
commercialization partners, mentors, and investors.Reporting to the
Program Manager and working under general supervision, the Program
Operations Analyst 1 (POA-1) is responsible for assisting in
planning and executing outreach-related efforts for two technology
commercialization programs, IMPEL and Cradle to Commerce, both
based at Berkeley Lab. This includes using basic skills and
professional concepts in project/initiative planning, budgeting and
scheduling, and developing graphic content and copy for the
programs' outreach channels. You will assist with planning efforts
for projects/programs and determining corrective actions for
smaller-scale issues/problems. You will exercise judgment within
defined procedures and practices and may provide recommendations
based on their analysis. You will collaborate primarily with
internal program/project contacts and may have limited contact with
external collaborators.What You Will Do:
- Support general pre-work of communications-related activities
and coordinating with the ETA Communications Office to help develop
outreach strategies to recruit a new Innovator cohort. Support the
operations and administrative matters of the internal program team
and a marketing subcontractor to help coordinate outreach
activities and timelines based on program goals, writing copy, and
designing outreach collateral.
- Interact with virtual Innovator community engagement by
updating the virtual Slack community, LinkedIn pages, and
developing original visual content for social media posts, printed
collateral, and program events.
- Assist with market research: relevant conferences and events
for program participation and innovator product developments.
- Assist with developing ideas for, draft, and format blog
posts.
- Provide program administrative and planning support by helping
build graphics for slide decks, visuals and content as well as
Excel charts.
- Assist with developing and maintaining program indices and
organizational structures to organize program files and data.
- Develop quarterly newsletters and mailing lists.
- Work within ETA Communication Office and Lab requirements to
support internal communications, including updating the IMPEL
distribution list, and tracking and updating Innovator progress
(technology type, program pipeline, demographics, alumni surveys,
success stories, and post-event surveys), and ensuring consistent
branding and messaging across communication channels.Additional
Responsibilities as needed:
- May assist in program planning, budgeting and scheduling.
- Assist with identifying opportunities for IMPEL to present at
events, and gain visibility.
- May monitor project tasks from start to finish using Gantt
charts and other program tools.
- Organize technical and management meetings and program
events.
- May conduct outside analysis to determine recommendations for
best practices.
- May provide input on the program operational strategy.
- Perform additional administrative support as required.
- Other duties as assigned.What is Required:
- BA/BS degree with 1-3 years of related experience.
- Demonstrate experience supporting the operations of a
small-moderate scope program.
- Experience developing content for newsletters, blogs, social
media, and/or short promotional videos.
- Demonstrated experience providing support in the following
areas: presentation design and development, process flow diagrams,
program and project coordination, document and report preparation,
logistics coordination.
- Experience with handling sensitive and confidential information
with a high level of discretion and integrity.
- Experience in working with communications and design tools such
as Google Suite, Canva, iMovie or other video editing software,
Constant Contact, mail merges.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with proven
ability to identify, characterize, analyze, report and implement
solutions to complex and non-routine problems.
- Proven ability to independently establish priorities, perform
multiple tasks simultaneously with short deadlines and frequent
interruptions, and deliver desired results in a timely and accurate
manner.
- Ability to work independently, with some supervision, and
demonstrate initiative in meeting established goals and/or
expectations.
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize
projects and tasks.
- Ability to anticipate and solve problems, and adjust one's
approach as required to meet changing needs.
- General awareness of climate challenges and opportunities;

possibility of extension or conversion to Career appointment based
upon satisfactory job performance, continuing availability of funds
and ongoing operational needs.
- The full salary range for this position is $70,476.00 -
$118,932.00. The budgeted salary range that the Lab reasonably
expects to pay for this position is $83,687.40 - $92,496.60 Salary
offers will be commensurate with the final candidate's
qualification and experience, including skills, knowledge, relevant
education, and certifications, and also aligned with the internal
peer group.
- This position may be subject to a background check. Any

- This position is eligible for a flexible work mode, with onsite
or hybrid work being the preferred modes. Hybrid work is a

working a hybrid schedule must reside within 150 miles of Berkeley
